Our Story

Built by people obsessed with the bean

Ember & Oak began in a one-car garage with a one-kilo sample roaster and a stubborn belief that most coffee is roasted for the machine, not the palate. A decade later, we still roast in small batches, still cup every lot before it ships, and still turn away beans that don't earn their place in the bag.

Every relationship with a farm is direct — no brokers, no blends of convenience. We pay well above commodity price, because coffee this good starts long before it ever reaches our roaster.

The Process

From Farm to First Pour

01

Source

We visit origin every season, cupping dozens of lots at each farm to find the handful worth bringing home.

02

Cup

Every lot is scored blind by our tasting panel before it earns a place on the roast schedule.

03

Roast

Small batches on a vintage drum roaster, profiled by hand to draw out what makes each origin distinct.

04

Rest & Ship

Beans rest to hit peak flavor, then ship within 48 hours so your first cup tastes like our last cupping.

"The Solstice roast changed how I drink coffee at home. Every bag tastes like it was roasted yesterday — because it was."

Maren T.

Home Barista

"We've poured Ember & Oak at our cafe for three years. Consistency this good, batch after batch, is rare."

Devon K.

Cafe Owner

"I've never kept a coffee subscription longer than a month. This one I've kept for two years."
